‘All Or Nothing’ is the sublime new single from Nathan Ball, due for release on October 26th via AWAL. Recorded at Bush Studios in Cornwall and produced by Max Radford, ‘All Or Nothing’ is the first release from a mass of new material from the talented singer-songwriter. Nathan will support the release with a short UK tour in December, including a London gig on December 2nd at a secret location to be announced soon.
‘All Or Nothing’ was written in Cornwall, where Nathan splits his time with London, at the end of a tour when he was feeling somewhat lost. “It’s about trying to stay focussed on something whilst feeling a weight of expectation on you,” says Nathan of the song. “And, instead of talking about it, becoming more introverted.”
Everything about Nathan Ball feels natural and unforced. His music scales universal emotional highs with as much fluidity as it descends into moody introspection. A former snowboard instructor and a keen surfer, it’s not surprising that Nathan finds his inspiration in the outdoors, and that much of his material is connected to his surroundings. “It’s where I write best; by the sea, in the mountains, in the woods,” he says. “I love being totally immersed in nature, so naturally those themes find their way into the music. I love being in the ocean, and feeling totally insignificant. It’s a reminder of the order of things.”
Nathan’s break-out singles, 2016’s ‘Right Place’ and 2017’s ‘Drifting’, which boast almost 5 million Spotify streams between them, connected with audiences in the UK and internationally. Acclaimed by tastemakers like the Line of Best Fit and Clash, the songs cross traditional boundaries of indie, folk and electronica, the universal thread being Nathan’s emotive and magnetic voice.
Nathan’s music fuses his love of classic songwriting with an eagerness to experiment and push sonic boundaries. Perhaps unexpectedly, he finds inspiration in left-field house music.“I love the way it makes you feel it’s euphoric, but sad, introverted but expressive. I love that darker side of the genre.”
Nathan re-worked his live show last year, bringing in long time collaborators Max Radford and William Taylor. With a relentless touring schedule, the band built audiences across the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Australia at both festivals and headline shows.
‘All Or Nothing’ is out on October 26th with supporting live dates in the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Australia.
