Folk on Foot podcast’s “Front Room Festival” raises £20,000 in 73 hours for musicians hit by the coronavirus lockdown – a BIG thank-you to contributors so far!
Also announcing, Kerry Andrews (You Are Wolf) joins the stellar line-up!
We are delighted to announce that the composer, singer and writer Kerry Andrew, who performs folk music as You Are Wolf is joining the line-up for the Folk on Foot Front Room Festival on Easter Bank Holiday Monday. Kerry, who was described by Robert Macfarlane as “a writer and musician of frankly alarming talent” has been unable to perform since late 2018 because of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She makes her emotional comeback for this festival by singing three songs with electronic backing in the striking setting of a corridor in the block of flats where she lives in South London.”
The award-winning Folk on Foot podcast hosted by Matthew Bannister has pulled together an amazing line up to take part in The Folk on Foot Front Room Festival on Easter Bank Holiday Monday (13th April).
Kerry Andrews (We Are Wolf), Bella Hardy, Beth Porter plus the Bookshop Band, Jon Boden, Julie Fowlis and Éamon Doorley, Karine Polwart, Kris Drever, Lisa Knapp, Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Peggy Seeger, Rachel Newton, Sam Lee, Seth Lakeman and Steve Knightley of Show of Hands have all agreed to film sets of up to 30 minutes’ duration in their front rooms.
Bannister plans to stream the performances on the Folk on Foot YouTube channel and Facebook page, linked by him from his own front room. The show will start at 2pm and run for about 6 hours. The funding campaign set an initial target of £5,000 – already £20,000 – with all the proceeds divided equally between the charity Help Musicians UK and the participating artists, many of whose careers have been devasted by the lockdown.
