EP Review: The Webb Sisters – When Will You Come Home

The Webb Sisters, Hattie and Charlie Webb, are an English folk duo who have produced an EP, ‘When Will You Come Home’ of spell binding songs. Of particular beauty is the Cohen song ‘show me the place, demonstrating their beautiful blended harmonies and simple harp and guitar accompaniment. Both sisters are multi-instrumentalist and effectively use harp, guitar, mandolin, piano and drums. The influence of both American and English folk music shines through the songs and their voices are expressive and pure in timbre.

The Webb Sisters are currently in the process of a lengthy world tour with Leonard Cohen, who refers them as ‘the sublime Webb Sisters’. This current EP, which has been written on the back of three previous albums, demonstrates their ‘sublime’ capabilities as musicians. Two DVD’S and a audio albums have also been released in connection with the Leonard Cohen tours, ‘Live in London’ and ‘Songs from the Road’, featuring Charley and Hattie on the track ‘If it be your Will’.

‘When Will You Come Home’ is a beautiful 4 track EP, which gives a taster of what these sisters are capable of and encourages the listener to explore their previous albums.
