21 year old UK pop artist Jerry Williams has revealed the video for her brand new track, a cover of The Cure’s classic hit single ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ taken from her latest EP Let’s Just Forget It, out now.
The video, shot by James Robert Sharp, cuts between black and white footage of Jerry walking through her hometown of Portsmouth. It’s shot on both super 8 and HD red cameras creating a juxtaposing visual that sits perfectly in line with her delicate, emotional take of the original. It even caught the ears of Made In Chelsea’s team who recently used it as the soundtrack to one of their key break-up scenes in the latest series.
The Let’s Just Forget It EP, which recently won Best Produced EP at the 2016 Unsigned Music Awards, features five tracks including the title track, Jerry’s previous single ‘Mother’ (which has now reached over 3 million streams on Spotify) plus two further original compositions, as well as her cover of The Cure.
As well as performing at BST Hyde Park with Take That this summer, and support slots with LANY, Barnes Courtney, MAGIC & Nathan Sykes, Jerry embarked on her first ever headline tour last month, which included sold-out shows in both London & Portsmouth. She’s also recorded a VEVO DSCVR session, which can be watched HERE.
“Adroitly executed by a young woman who ‘would happily write songs all day, everyday, forever’. No complaints here if they’re all of this standard.” – The Guardian
“The Portsmouth teen is dedicated to perfection and she’s close to the mark. This isn’t just another instance of overblown bubble-gum pop, Jerry Williams is the music-fan’s pop star”
“There’s a sweetness to her delivery that belies that often personal nature of her lyrics, a
song writing style that cuts a little deeper” – Clash
