Live Review: The Eskies – The Star Inn, Guildford

It was a little over a year ago when the debut album of The Eskies reached us here at Artree Music. It was somewhat later than it should have been but with all the warmth, joy and frivolity the band brought to life with After the Sherry Went Round I had no choice but to add them to my bucket lists of bands to see. On the 10th of October in the small and atmospheric chambers of the Asahi Room at the back of The Star Inn, Guildford; I got my wish.

Live Review: Frigg – Haymarket, Basingstoke

I don’t imagine that there are going to be a huge wealth of people in this world who can say that they have been to a gig where a man shredded a mandolin so vehemently in a high pitched solo that his strings gave up the ghost. They are probably equally as unlikely to have experienced a human version of Newton’s Cradle comprised entirely of fiddle players. Thanks to Frigg I am one of the people who can proudly say that they have.

Live Review: Boomtown Fair 2015

Boomtown returned this year for Chapter 7 of the story, a city built from scratch in the coutryside just outside Winchester creating a place like no other. A place filled with madness and mayhem, with ravers, punks, cowboys, hippies, cyborgs and pirates all mixing with each other to have one huge party. From the Wild West to Trenchtown to walking through Mayfair or losing yourself in the forest – Boomtown here we come…
