Otis Gibbs has his talented hands spread wide and can easily be classified as a singer, songwriter, storyteller, painter and photographer. He runs a regular podcast called Thanks for Giving a Damn as well as hosting the widely popular Country Built on Pandora which finds its way to more than two million subscribers across the globe. He has been described in the past as “the best unknown songwriter in music today” but he remains fairly adamant that he is simply a folk singer.

Existing underneath the hustle and bustle of the trendy Roppongi streets in Japan, Super Deluxe hosts some the trendiest and most obscure acts in the land and that Battle of the Bands was no exception.

Crying Day Care Choir might have a somewhat suspicious name if we’re brutally honest, but we assure you that it’s not nearly as strange as it sounds. This actually refers to the concept that a group of crying children are actually capable of creating musical harmony. This interesting concept is picked up by a vibrant and uplifting Swedish trio who are some of the hardest working musicians on the Swedish folk scene today.
